Mechanic: Resurrection Brings Jason Statham Back

LOS ANGELES, CA. August 22, 2016: Actress Jessica Alba at the Los Angeles premiere of "Mechanic: Resurrection" at the Arclight Theatre, Hollywood. Picture: Paul Smith / FeatureflashThe biggest news at the low-key Hollywood premiere of action thriller Mechanic: Resurrection was Jessica Alba in her strapless Dolce & Gabbana mermaid-style gown.

Then photographers turned their lenses on the hot pink wonder of British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the fiancée of the film’s co-star Jason Statham, who is said to be the big draw for the film.  Directed by Dennis Gansel, the movie also features Tommy Lee Jones and Michelle Yeoh.

Most of us can’t remember seeing The Mechanic at the local cinema in 2011, which introduced Jason Statham as a hit man who specialized in making his work look like an accident.

This time filmmakers have a good reason for a sequel, despite the poor box office of the remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson thriller.  Since 2011, home viewers are responsible for bringing The Mechanic back to life, buying more than 1.5 million home units and renting it more than 2.1 million times.
